BEATIFICATION
Fr. Richard Nyombi M.Afr (“Jjaja Mapeera”) and Shrine Rector Fr. Male unveiled historical bronze monument of Pioneer Catholic Missionary in Uganda; Fr. Simeon Lourdel (knowned as Mapeera). Fr Nyombi in the Mass which preceded unveiling highlighted Mapeera role in the life of Uganda Martyrs and historical intervention in Munyonyo before their journey to Namugongo.

St Andrew was martyred on 26th May 1886 by the order of Kabaka Mwanga who was residing at that time at Munyonyo Palace. Andrews’ arm was chopped off and presented to the King who later instructed to “finish him”.

Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938) was a Polish Catholic nun and mystic, widely known for her role in spreading devotion to the Divine Mercy.
She reported receiving visions of Jesus Christ, who, according to her diary, asked that a special devotion emphasizing God’s mercy be shared with the world. Her writings were later compiled into a spiritual classic titled “Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul.”

Mother Kevin was born as Teresa Kearney in 1875 in County Tipperary, Ireland. From a young age, she felt called to religious life and joined the Franciscan Sisters. Later, she became a missionary and traveled to Uganda in 1903.
