Munyonyo Good Samaritan Ministry, Speke Resort, Bring Christmas Joy to Over 100 Children

In fulfilment of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), the management of Speke Resort Munyonyo, along with the Good Samaritan Ministry of Munyonyo Parish, hosted a Christmas luncheon for over 100 children.

The children, who are beneficiaries of the Good Samaritan Ministry at the Basilica, were treated to a joyful day of celebration and merrymaking. The day began with an interaction between the resort management and the children, followed by a guided tour of the resort, which included feeding the horses.

The children also enjoyed various activities such as face painting and meeting Father Christmas, who presented each child with a gift. The celebrations were crowned with a delicious lunch and cake.

Ms Maryanne Mubiru, the group leader of the Good Samaritan Ministry at the parish, extended special appreciation to Mr Christopher, a resident of Palm Villas. Although not Catholic, he is an active member of the Ministry and played a key role in bridging the partnership between the Good Samaritan Ministry and Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Currently, the Good Samaritan Ministry supports 222 individuals in need within the parish community. Through the Franciscan Sponsorship Fund, the Ministry facilitates the education of 181 children from these families. Of these, six are in nursery school, 142 in primary school, 25 in secondary school, eight in vocational institutions, and one in a special-needs school for the deaf and blind.

Meanwhile, the parish hosted the Youth White Party on 26th December at the Basilica parking area. Today, children will enjoy their Christmas party in the parish gardens, in keeping with our cherished tradition.

As the year draws to a close, the parish will hold a Mega Night with Mother Mary on 31st December as we prepare to usher in the New Year 2026 together. The night will feature praise and worship, spiritual talks, and Holy Mass, led by Rev. Fr. Ssemanda Martin.
