St Denis Ssebugwawo Chapel was constructed on the spot where he was speared almost ready. Opening and blessing is scheduled for Sunday 21st Feb. Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Cyprian K. Lwanga and Papal Nuncio to Uganda Archbishop Michael A. Blume. (Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine 300meter before church – on Pope Francis road. Mass starts at 10am)

MUNYONYO MARTYRS SHRINE CONSECRATION MOMENTS

On 28th October,2017  were Cardinal Fernando Filoni was the main celebrant during the main celebrant during the dedication mass of the Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Munyonyo.

WHO IS FERNANDO CARDINAL FILONI ?

Uganda Martyrs Catholic Parish was created in 2016 by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga in honor of Pope Francis visit to uganda and Munyonyo Shrine in November 2015 and is run by the community of the conventual Franciscan Friars (GreyFriars), Parish includes three places of martyrdom of Uganda Martyrs and historical place where future martyrs where sentenced for death. Currently sacraments are celebrated in Munyonyo Basilica and two chapels (St.Denis Chapel and Divine Mercy Chapel ).
